Temporary New Home Announced

We would like to thank our customers for their patience and support following the recent fire at Beacon Villages Community Library.

As many of you will already know, the library is currently closed while the impact of the fire is assessed, and recovery plans are put in place. Since the incident, our dedicated volunteers have been working closely with Buckinghamshire Council colleagues to ensure that library services can continue for the community.

We are pleased to share that a temporary library location has now been secured. Following several generous offers of support, we have gratefully accepted an offer from Reverend James Grainger-Smith to use part of the church in Ivinghoe as a temporary library space.

Location: St Marys Church, Church Road, Ivinghoe,  LU7 9EW

Opening hours: Tuesdays 2pm-4pm

               Fridays 2pm-4pm

               Saturday 10am – 1pm

Although the temporary library will be smaller than our usual premises, customers will still be able to browse and borrow from a varied selection of children’s books, adult fiction, and non-fiction titles. You can also continue to reserve items through our library catalogue or the Spydus Library app and collect them from the temporary location.

To support our customers during this period, the Buckinghamshire Libraries team has arranged free reservations for all Beacon Villages customers while the library operates from its temporary home.

Please note that some services will be unavailable during this time. Public computers, printing, scanning, photocopying facilities, and the Council Access Point telephone service will not be available until we are able to return to our permanent library building.

At the moment we are also unable to take payments at the temporary library – payments may be made online at Pay a library charge | Buckinghamshire Council or at any other Buckinghamshire Library.

All loans that were due back during the library closure have been automatically extended to ensure that no customers have fines for this period.

The nearest community library is at Wing, and customers can use any Buckinghamshire Library to access all library services. Find a library | Buckinghamshire Council (https://www.buckinghamshire.gov.uk/schools-libraries-and-parks/libraries/information-about-local-library/)

Remember also, you can still enjoy a wide range of digital library services from home, including e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines, and newspapers through BorrowBox, Libby and PressReader.

We hope you will continue to support your local library during this challenging period. We look forward to welcoming you to our temporary location and continuing to provide library services to the Beacon Villages community.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best Wishes,

Beacon Villages Community Library
