Borrowing at the library
Visit the library to browse our shelves, use our computers, read, and take out books and DVDs on loan. All you need is your library card.
- To borrow items you must present your library membership card.
- You can borrow up to 20 items at a time.
- Books and audiobooks can be borrowed for three weeks. CDs, DVDs, magazines and games can be borrowed for one week.
- Books and magazines are free to borrow. There are small hire charges for audio-visual items: current library hire charges.
- Items may be borrowed from and returned to any Buckinghamshire library.
Using the online catalogue
You can browse the library catalogue, reserve items, and view and renew your current loans online using the Buckinghamshire Libraries Spydus system. You just need your library card number and PIN.
If you give your email address, the system will alert you when your items are overdue.
Reservations
The library may be small, but it offers a wide range of books for children and adults. If what you’re looking for isn’t in stock, let the library staff know, or use the Spydus system to reserve it.
We can loan books to reading or book clubs. If you have a special need or interest, please speak to our library staff.

Renewals
You can renew items up to four times, if they haven’t been requested by another customer, by:
- visiting any Buckinghamshire library, including the mobile library (membership card required)
- using the online library service (membership card and PIN required)
- calling us on 01296 387890 (have your membership number to hand)
- calling the Buckinghamshire Libraries automated 24-hour renewal line on 0303 123 0035 (membership card and PIN required).
You can view your account at any time to see the due date for the items you have on loan.
Spydus alerts you when items are overdue. To be reminded before the due date, so you have time to renew or return without a fine, you can use the Library Elf service. To register you’ll need your library card number and Spydus login details. Library Elf is also available as an app: search for ‘Library Elf’ in your app store.
